I have been working across industries on innovation and digital transformation. I am currently working on a thesis that we are moving from a time of Audience focused marketing (paying to reach demographics, lookalikes, etc) to Community focused marketing (people opting in for free or even paying to join communities based on their interests). This is the first shift I have seen since the early 2010's, when I saw how powerful social media could become as a channel for Direct to Consumer sales and marketing.
