About Evan Markel

I'm a Ph.D. Transfer Pricing Economist with a strong quantitative skillset. My experience includes Big 4 and in-house roles with a focus on valuation, controversy, planning and documentation. My research has been published in the top field journal Energy Economics and has been cited by leading academics. Prior to my academic endeavors I proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an 0311 Infantryman and Squad Leader. As a tranfer pricing economist I have developed complex valuations of hard-to-value intangibles using various methods including acquisition price method, real option analysis, relief from royalty, residual profit split and other income-based methods. I've also performed legal-entity valuation to support large and complex legal entity restructurings. My controversy experience includes supporting the defense of highly complex transfer pricing arrangements, across nearly all phases of the audit cycle, against some of the most aggressive tax authorities in the world.
