Background
About Evan Mecum
I am a dedicated, motivated, problem solver always looking for the next challenge. I've spent the last 8 years working in Quality assurance roles and every year is another exciting adventure. My first experience was in a small CNC machining shop, Bridan MFG, where I was mentored by a master machinist. During my time there I learned CMM operation and programming, gage system management, metrology/calibration, and process documentation. I was in charge of First article inspections, in-process auditing, Final Inspection, the creation of sampling plans, gage performance management, and shipping out finished product. This experience led me to take a leap of faith into corporate America and join the quality team at Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. One of the most pivotal decisions of my life and I haven't looked back. Since joining the BRP family, I have gone from an Inspector, to Quality Technician, to Quality supervisor in 3 short years. I've witnessed new products go from infancy to full production. I previously managed two teams at the company's external warehouse SLC (Sturtevant Logistics Center). The QA/Rework team performed long term modification of production parts when engineering makes a change to the design. They also modify parts to bring them back into specification when there are supplier non-conformances. The Receiving inspection team performs incoming inspection on all new material and monitors material for non-reworkable supplier non-conformances. I was responsible for creating SWI(Standard work instructions) for all rework processes, data analysis to communicate necessary changes to processes, supplier non-conformance tracking for chargeback, inspection documentation to ensure traceability, training in gage operation and calibration procedure, and tool management to ensure safe operation of all equipment.
