Background
About Evangelia Tsimpoukli
Always on Continous Professional Development, I feel I am a well-versed and experienced Universtiy teacher of Academic Literacies and English for Academic/Scientific Purposes. I am a published academic writer involved in presenting at conferences, reviewing papers for higher education conferences and publications, developing curriculum and materials and I am an OUP HE Specialist Panel member, a Cambrdge Assessement Specialist and MLA Examiner (Michigan University Language Assessment- EFL). In all these years by teaching university students from foundation level to postgradutes, I have developed to be an advocate of the Academic Literacies approach in teaching and learning in higher education and have been guiding students to develop in Discourse Comminity and Discipline- specific conventions, Critical Thinking and Critical Evaluation of sources, Critical Reading-into-Critical Writing, Scientific Communications, Intrcultural Communications and Cultural Studies, Digital Literacies in HE, Assessement Literacy, Research Ethics, Scientific Writing, Academic Debates, Academic Presentations and more besides developing English for Academic/Scientific purposes, both General and Specific and last but not least, Tutorials skills and reflective practice. On my developmental journey I have become an Advanced HEA Fellow, a member of EATAW (European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing) and BALEAP (British Association of Lecturers of English for Academic Purposes), taking active role in SIGs (Special Interest Groups), such as TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning), TEd (Teachers' Education), AL (Academic Literacies) and TiP (Theory into Practice) groups. I also hold a QTS. I feel that this development never ends as life-long learning is what keeps me invigorated.
