About Eve Zoebisch

Teaching is a challenge; knowledge to be taught is increasing at an impressive rate. In addition, some of the topics taught in high school were previously only available as math major courses in college. High school physics teachers express the difficulty of teaching physics when students do not know the underlying math. Data science, physics, economics, computational chemistry and many other fields use vectors, multivariate calculus and statistics. Chemistry education is also a challenge. Some students are frustrated that they have to memorize series of steps, unlike other courses where they reason out what to do. Fortunately, when students know the fundamentals behind the procedures, chemistry makes intuitive sense. It is rewarding to hear feedback from students who took a pre-chem summer course. Indeed one student said chemistry was the only class where he enjoyed reading the textbook. There is nothing quite like watching a 6th grader complain that it is stupid to look at the probability of the position of an electron.(A wave function is much better) because you have to have a negative component in the wave function so the wave functions can cancel (that is, a ‘1s’ and a ‘2s' orbital must have zero overlap). Clearly, students are capable of far deeper understanding of chemistry then we thought. Dr. Zoebisch has Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry with a minor in math. Since 2017 she has taught math and chemistry for Middle School and High School Background experience includes: Investigative experiments for product design. • Experimental design and implementation • Liaison for vendors and manufacturing Design Stage Testing for • Xbox, Xbox 360 • cameras for Apple iPhone Pharmaceutical development Software development Quantum Mechanics Method development
