About Everett Hanna

With a career spanning multiple decades, I offer broad experience in natural resource research, teaching, and conservation. I am dedicated to inspiring and educating the next generation of conservation professionals while advancing applied scientific research via my faculty role at Lethbridge Polytechnic. As the founder and principal of Ponderosa Environmental Consulting Inc, I lead interdisciplinary conservation projects ranging from private lands species at risk efforts to application of structured decision making in natural resource management. I constantly strive to foster critical thinking and engagement amongst my students and colleagues. Throughout my journey, I have successfully collaborated with private, ENGO, and provincial and federal agencies and conservation organizations on impactful applied research projects integrated into my faculty roles at the post-secondary level. For example, I led the effort to establish and now manage the Wildlife Analytics Lab - the only lab of its kind in Canada. My leadership also extends to chairing various committees and serving as an expert witness in wildlife conservation and management. I am passionate about disrupting the status quo in biological education and research, leveraging my technical expertise in conservation science to drive innovation and sustainability. My career has seen me work across North America with a diversity of species in both terrestrial and aquatic environments, combining paid roles with volunteer contributions in the private and public sectors. I am always seeking new opportunities to use and hone my skills.
