About Evert de Jongh

I started my career at Exxaro Grootegeluk coal mine by shadowing and assisting a resident engineer on a mining haul trucks workshop site for one and a half years. When the job completed, I moved to the mine's Engineering Development department, where I managed various small designs for plant foremen. In my third year I was seconded to JG Afrika to gain consulting engineering experience, specifically in the roads/water divisions. My last involvement in the civil engineering space was as a project manager /civil engineer on Exxaro Leeuwpan coal mine, attending to any requests given by clients. This ranged from structural inspections and reports to project investigations and execution. At the end of 2020 I switched over to the renewable energy industry, seconded (and now appointed) by Exxaro to their subsidiary, Cennergi. Since then I've been engaged in various projects as an analyst, performing market research, creating strategic and research presentations / reports, and early-stage developments. My aim is to progress my career as an analyst in the renewable energy space, build successful renewable IPPs, and drive projects to decarbonise our society.
