I'm currently working full time in the retail sector in order to gain valuable experience and insight into the fashion industry, as I am looking to pursue a career in this area. I started my first job back in 2021. My passion for photography and business during my A-levels aided in my transition into working in the fashion industry. The two subjects have equipped me with abilities that I apply to everything from Adobe Photoshop to the investigation of creative marketing and promotion tactics. Working in retail has been a valuable stepping stone for me in pursuing a career in the fashion industry. It has sparked my desire to pursue a career in fashion communication and marketing by providing me with a deeper understanding of consumer behaviour and the importance of effective brand messaging. Through my interactions with customers, I've learned how crucial it is to communicate a product's value and connect with the audience on an emotional level. I’ve also gained firsthand experience in how visual merchandising and store displays can influence purchasing decisions, which has fuelled my interest in crafting compelling narratives around fashion. The fast-paced retail environment has taught me how to multitask, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing trends—skills that are essential in marketing. These experiences have made me realise that fashion marketing is not just about promoting products but about telling a story that resonates with people, and I am eager to apply my knowledge to help shape fashion brands and campaigns in the future.
