My railway career started In 2018 where I was extremely lucky to be able to join Great Western Railway as an “Operations apprentice” based out of Bristol parkway. During my apprenticeship, I attainted the knowledge and experience of multiple front line roles. I have also worked in a number of locations, such as (Kennet and Thames Valley), Bath Spa & Bristol Temple Meads. This experience has given me knowledge and understanding of how different parts of the rail network operate and differ to one another. I have safety critical experience working at busy mainstream locations as a Train Dispatcher. The role requires a high level of self discipline, motivation and customer service skills. In my role the implementation of non - technical skills are crucial in order for me to fulfil my duties to the highest standard. As a qualified dispatcher; I must manage my competence by reviewing (ACMS) as well as rulebook resources, to ensure that I am updated on any operational changes, such as risk assessments, signalling and method of work practice. I have also had the experience of “chairing” and “relaunching” the YRP Western Region. The role required a lot of hard work which involved a lot of determination, in order for the region to perform to it’s best potential. With my experience, I have been able to influence and work with senior leaders at an executive level across the rail industry to establish a professional relationship with collaborative projects, in order to inspire future talent for the rail industry. During my role as a chairman, it had given me worthwhile leadership qualities, such as delegating tasks and meeting objectives of all kinds of deadlines and descriptions. My personal industry interests are health and safety, signalling and in depth rail operations. I am open to learn and embrace new opportunities, in order continue my personal development. I have had the experience of supporting others as an apprentice “mentor”. From my previous experience as an apprentice and also working on the frontline, my transferable skills and advice are a great attribute to help support individuals succeed, by making sure that the apprentice sets themselves clear objectives and plans in order for them to make their next step within their railway career. In the hope that they reach there full potential!
