About Ewen Chardronnet

Ewen Chardronnet is an author, journalist, artist, curator and producer. He's editor-in-chief of the french/english magazine Makery.info on creative communities in DIY, hacker/maker cultures and art & science. He's currently co-coordinating the Creative Europe cooperation programs "More-Than-Planet"(2022-2025) and "Rewilding Cultures"(2022-2026) for Art2M.eu, editor and curator for STARTS4WATER II and expert for Matrice.io to establish european cooperations in art & science. He's also the co-author of the recent Umi No Oya documentary essay (uminooya.movie). After studying journalism at ESJ Paris he edited Quitter la gravité (L'éclat, 2001) anthology of the Association of Autonomous Astronauts. In 2003, he received the Leonardo New Horizons Prize together with the Acoustic Space Lab and Makrolab initiatives. In 2007 he co-founded the Laboratory Planet collective and associated projects Spectral Investigations Collective (2008) and Aliens in Green (2016). Since 2016, Ewen Chardronnet and Xavier Bailly (CNRS, Sorbonne) have been leading the art/science platform Roscosmoe.org supporting the development of artistic works related to the marine environment. In 2023 he also co-initiated the Soil Assembly project, an international network at the crossroad of art & design, agroecology, soil ecology and food transition. Ewen Chardronnet has collaborated with several artists collective and shown art works in numerous institutions, including: Center Pompidou, Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Jeu de Paume, Belle de Mai, Fundação Serralves (Porto), PACT Zollverein (Essen), Transmediale Berlin, Berlinische Galerie, Casa Encendida (Madrid), Museum für Gestaltung (Zurich), Le Magasin (Grenoble), Science Gallery Dublin & London, Mu Hybrid Art House (Eindhoven), Art Laboratory Berlin, Awareness in Art (Zurich), Kochi Biennale (In). Invited as speaker in many conferences, including World Biodiversity Forum Davos, Spore Initiative Berlin, Jeu de Paume, Centre Pompidou, Muffathalle Munich, Ars Electronica, Kikk Namur, MUCEM, RIXC Riga, FRAC Marseille, Rubin Center for the Arts El Paso, Ksevt Slovenia, World-Information Institute, Enter Festival Prague, Rotterdam Film Festival, ICA London, IRCAM and more. Ewen Chardronnet has given lectures at art schools, including SPEAP art & politics Science Po Paris, HEAD Geneva, Luzern HSLU, UC Santa Barbara, Harvey Mudd College Claremont (CA), art schools of Paris, Strasbourg, Angoulême, Bourges, Tours, Orléans, Le Havre, St Nazaire, Tourcoing, Pau and Aix-en-Provence. He has been a jury in Le Havre, Marseille, Orleans and Annecy.
