Chief Engineer offshore is responsible for managing the technical operations and maintenance of all machinery and systems on board an offshore vessel As senior technical authority, ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems while complying with international maritime regulations and company standards. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the vessel’s operational readiness for offshore projects, such as installing Monopile foundations and construction, cable laying or exploration activities. Key Responsibilities: • Technical Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all machinery and equipment, including engines, generators, HVAC systems, and safety systems. • Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the engineering crew, ensuring proper task delegation, training, and performance monitoring. • Safety Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with international maritime safety and environmental standards (e.g, SOLAS, MARPOL). • Maintenance Planning: Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency. • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose technical issues and coordinate effective and timely repairs in collaboration with the crew and external contractors if needed. • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage spare parts and consumables to ensure availability for all critical equipment. • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and safety inspections. • Collaboration: Work closely with the Master (Captain), offshore project managers, and shore-based technical teams to align vessel operations with project requirements.
