About Fabien Kenig

Dr. Fabien Kenig is a French citizen who left for the United States after receiving a doctorate from the Université d’Orléans (France, 1991) with specialization in organic geochemistry. Dr. Kenig’s doctoral research was based at IFP in Rueil-Malmaison (France). Dr. Kenig’s professional career in the realm of organic geochemistry includes a high visibility professorship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and postdoctoral positions with well-known leaders in the field of organic and isotope geochemistry. Dr. Kenig built a state of the art organic geochemistry laboratory in Chicago that includes a cutting edge comprehensive multidimensional gas chromatograph-time of flight mass spectrometer. Dr. Kenig has 18 years of experience maintaining an effective research group as he managed a productive team including a postdoctoral researcher, a technician, and graduate and undergraduate students. Kenig obtained ~$ ($ from Federal Agencies (NSF, NASA) for original, applied and fundamental research in the organic geochemistry laboratory at UIC. Dr. Kenig has published more than 60 peer reviewed papers and book chapters, including in the journals Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (USA), Geology, EPSL, Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta and Organic Geochemistry.Dr. Kenig has a demonstrated record of creativity and of synergistic, interdisciplinary collaborative research resulting in seminal publications. Dr. Kenig’s experience and multifaceted knowledge puts him in ideal position to effectively lead a team of researchers at the forefront of fundamental and applied biogeochemistry, organic geochemistry and petroleum science.
