About Fabio Sacchetti

Project manager, Team Leader and HPAS L1 accredited hydrographer for INFOMAR, the Irish national seabed mapping program. After the completion of my Masters degree, I worked as hydrographic surveyor on a number of Oil & Gas international projects. In 2003 I joined the Marine Institute in Ireland where I worked as Hydrographc Team Leader for the INFOMAR project Within INFOMAR I look after the successful planning and delivery of offshore and inshore geophysical, hydrographic and integrated marine exploration program. This involves a wide array of challenges from development and maintenance of the National Research Vessel survey asset, to planning surveys, leading teams at sea, looking after the entire data flow from acquisition to delivery of hydrographic and geophysical data to National and International users. In 2013 I also completed PhD on the geomorphology and sedimentology of the Irish continental margin. The research has been published in several articles and book chapters in international peer-reviewed journals. As part of the INFOMAR value added and education plan, I also act as research coordinator and I am actively involved with the academic community at national and international level on topics spanning from remote sensing, marine acoustics, archeological exploration, geomorphology and habitat mapping. I have co-supervised a number undergraduates, Master and PhD students and supported numerous educational initiatives such as Smart, BEAM program, TY student training and since 2019 I have coordinated the development of INFOMAR Master Module in Marine Remote Sensing delivered in two Universities in Ireland (Maynooth NUIM and University College Dublin).
