About Faghya Shafiq

Hello I’m Faghya – part-time strategist, part-time accountant, and full-time believer of trying to make the world a better place. As the Chief Operating Officer at Islamic Relief Canada, I lead several teams of truly amazing people to ensure everything runs like a well-oiled machine, so we can deliver maximum impact to the communities that we serve. I create synergies, coordinate efforts, collaborate across departments – any buzz word you have ever written on a resume, I probably do it. My journey also includes time at EY in the wavespace™ practice, exploring how strategy and innovation can transform our clients’ businesses, and sharing my love for problem solving with students as an instructor at the Schulich School of Business (aka, my alma mater). Outside my work, you’ll likely find me baking chocolate chip cookies (my favourite method of stress relief), travelling to new places, or searching for the best iced coffee in the GTA (yes, even when it’s -20° outside).
