About Farbod Sedaghati

Farbod has received Ph.D. in the Bioengineering Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT), holding a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics with a focus on Biomedical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). He also completed his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Amir Kabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic). With a strong academic background, Farbod has gained extensive experience in the field of bioengineering through various research and industry roles. Currently, he serves as a Medical Device/Mechatronics Scientist at Nephrodite, where he contributes to the development of medical devices. During his advanced co-op at the R&D/RML Laboratory of United Therapeutics, Farbod acquired skills in executing Ex-Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) tests. His responsibilities included analyzing lung function data, developing mathematical models, and tracking parameters to predict the efficacy of the recellularization process and lung functionality. As a graduate research assistant at the Tissues Mechanics Laboratory at GT, Farbod focuses on the development of animal and computational models for studying pregnancy and Preeclampsia, Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), and lymphatic system. He employs techniques such as microsurgery, ultrasound imaging, biomechanical testing, and computational modeling to investigate remodeling patterns, mechanical properties, and transport mechanisms. Farbod also gained research experience as a graduate research assistant at the Bio-Mechanics Laboratory at UNL. His work involved modeling tissue-stent interactions and conducting mechanical testing on arteries and stents. Overall, Farbod's research and industry experience demonstrate his expertise in bioengineering, with a focus on cardiovascular biomechanics, tissue modeling, and medical device development. He combines hands-on laboratory work with computational modeling to advance our understanding of various diseases and develop potential treatments.
