About Farida Rokadia

I have always been of the opinion that education is key to all progress and prosperity and have worked in schools in every position, teacher, librarian, strategic planning coordinator and Board member. I work to try and bring that education to the poorer parts of Pakistan. As treasurer at ABSA, a school for the hearing impaired, I have had to work at fundraising, and evaluations, so have learnt the hurdles that NGOs have to face. To promote career guidance, I wrote a book, compiling stories of women in Pakistan who have been successful in 60 different occupations. These stories in "Journeys of Success:The Pakistani woman" will enable girls to have role models when plan their futures to best use their talents. I have donated a secondary schol in Khanewal through TCF to help students finish their education since their was only a primary school there. Helped The School of the Future in Manhattan launch a Malala project for Middle School students send books to teh Oxford University Press mobile libraries. Through my Master's thesis on "Madressas as Terror Schools:Myth or Reality" and the knowledge acquired during the process, my latest project is bringing vocational training to madressa students, so their will have skills to become productive members of society.
