About Farnaz Ghorbani

I am an experienced researcher with over a decade of international experience in biomedical engineering and biomaterials, spanning leading institutions in the UK, Germany, China, and Iran. My work focuses on translational biomaterials and tissue engineering, bridging fundamental research with clinical and industrial applications. I have led projects resulting in 67 peer-reviewed publications in widely-read journals (citation ˃ 1800), three scientific handbooks, six book chapters, and four patents. As Principal Investigator, I have secured over in competitive funding, including prestigious Alexander von Humboldt and Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowships. My teaching experience spans undergraduate and postgraduate modules in biomaterials and tissue engineering across the UK and Iran, alongside the successful supervision of 18 BSc, MSc, and PhD students. I contribute actively to scientific societies, serve on editorial boards of leading journals, and have co-chaired international conferences and symposia. I have also translated research into practice through co-founding a start-up focused on 3D printing technologies along with advancing osteochondral scaffolds toward clinical trials. My work is defined by its interdisciplinary foundation, global collaborations, and commitment to impactful biomedical innovation.
