Farva Jafri is a few things: a lawyer, an alternative home-builder, but most importantly, a zealous advocate for her clients. She has owned and operated legal funding, tech and real estate businesses. Jafri is also a visiting professor of business at universities. Farva Jafri focuses her law practice on bankruptcy, litigation and tax problem resolution. There is one thing you can be sure of when you work with Farva Jafri: she is a fighter. She will advocate for herself, advocate for you and anyone who is a David taking on a Goliath. Jafri also knows that when one decision-maker says "no," it's not where the story ends. As a lawyer, Jafri is not afraid of trial, appeals or serving as the mouthpiece for the disadvantaged or poor. Jafri worked for the Innocence Project for four years, and learned a very important lesson: the Powers That Be are not always right, and when they're wrong, they can be really wrong. Prior to her career as a lawyer, Farva Jafri led the content team at a tech startup called Apervita. Apervita was backed by Pritzker Capital and GE Ventures. She built the world’s first two-sided marketplace for health data and analytics through her vast network of physicians and research scientists. Farva Jafri also established a regulatory conference that brought together leaders, attorneys and public officials within health informatics. The attendance list included former senators, healthcare leaders and government representatives who discussed the landscape of health informatics on panels. While at the University of Illinois, Farva Jafri established a non-profit called ICON, which was integrated into the curricula of several partner universities across the world. Farva started ICON with fifteen consultants. Farva Jafri grew it into a fully-funded organization with hundreds of administrators and consultants. Jafri, to this day, runs that same university-based program by teaching students how to consult and deliver real-world presentations to clients. Farva Jafri holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from New York University. She also holds an M.P.H. from the University of Southern California, a M.B.A. from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a J.D. from UIUC's College of Law. Jafri is licensed to practice law in IL, NJ, MA, ME and NY, and is admitted to the USDCs for the Northern District of IL, Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of NY, District of NJ, District of DC, NDOH, the 2nd and 7th Circuits and the US Tax Court. She is also admitted to practice before the SSA and IRS.
