About Fatima Hashem

Fatima Hashem is currently attending Macaulay Honors College at The City College of New York for a BA in Sociology and a minor in Earth and Atmospheric Science. She is excited to learn more about the environmental field and its importance and wants to focus on the environmental disparities in low-income communities. As an Environmental Justice Research Intern at Air Company, a company that utilizes captured CO2 to create products primarily made of alcohol, Fatima learned more about the climate crisis and it's effects on communities around the world. Additionally, Fatima collaborated with a team of people to write and edit a research paper about environmental injustice that have either occurred or still is occurring to marginalized groups. Fatima has worked as a Youth Program Facilitator under Joe Torre Safe at Home in Margaret's Place. She engaged with students under this program by facilitating conversations about topics such as Denim Day and Teen Dating Violence. Fatima hopes to be able to engage in a variety of experiences in the field of environmental studies and policy.
