About Fatma Jabbari
Fatma Jabbari is a Fulbright Alumna and a Ph.D. student in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at S-CAR at George Mason University. Her areas of expertise range from conflict prevention and resolution, transitional justice, countering violent extremism (CVE), fragile situations, peacebuilding, peace education; youth civic engagement, social entrepreneurship; gender, under-represented women’s political participation; democratization, shared governance, local governance, access to information, individual freedoms and human rights in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region. Fatma has extended professional and academic background in global development, capacity building, and peace education. She has hands-on experience in project design and management, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and communications. Fatma has also skills in data mining, data analysis (STATA, SPSS, QDA miner, MAXQDA, Nvivo, Dedoose etc.), online journal publishing systems, and associated workflow platforms. Jabbari speaks 3 languages fluently: Arabic, French, and English. She is currently taking Hebrew classes. Jabbari is currently working on different research projects, the most recent is entitled “What works? Youth transitions from education to employment in the Middle East and North Africa” and is funded by The Academy of Finland and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The project examines youth transitions and their societal context in the region. Using mixed methods approach, it analyses young people’s social entrepreneurship, job seeking, and cross-border mobility. The project team includes researchers from Finland, Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt most of which are based in the University of Tampere, Finland. Fatma Jabbari previously published in the academic journal Global Studies of Childhood. The co-authored article is entitled “Spaces of dialogue? The case of the World Social Forum Tunis 2013 from the perspective of young, local volunteers”.
