About Fatu Amara

Fatu Amara works as a Project Manager for the NYC Economic Development Corporation. Previously, she worked on coordinating project implementation and scaling activities for the Parents Empowering Parents Initiative at the NYC Administration for Children’s Services. Additionally, she conducted equity and child welfare research, policy, and administration. As a Watson Fellow, she worked on public health issues in the US, Rwanda, and the UK. Her work includes program management, qualitative and quantitative research analysis, literature reviews, and scientific journal writing on SARS, Ebola, and COVID-19 issues. She aspires to intersect her passions for health and policy to lead programs that ensure the well-being of vulnerable communities. She graduated with honors and was awarded the American Chemical Society (ACS) Accredited BS in Chemistry from CUNY College of Staten Island (CSI). As President of the Student Government, she represented the student body as an Executive Board member to five college boards, managed the budget, and developed the Student Government Internship Program. Originally from Sierra Leone, Fatu Amara now lives in NYC. She enjoys reading African literature, watching comedy TV shows, and spending quality time with love ones.
