About Fayaz Khan

Specialty Interests: General Cardiology, Coronary Intervention,Trans-catheter Aortic valve implantation, device closure for congenital defects, Renal Denervation, Resistant Hypertension. After completing UK foundation training and medical residency, I joined cardiology residency program after a period of formal research training. I have completed training in approved program both in general and interventional cardiology in the UK, CCT (Certificate of completion of specialist training) on 7th April 10, 2016 by the GMC UK. I obtained specialist status in clinical hypertension with the American Society of hypertension. My research interest has been FFR, resistant hypertension and Renal denervation. I completed a two years fellowship program in Coronary and structural cardiac intervention in Halifax, NS, Canada. Here focus of training was advanced coronary intervention, TAVI and device closure. It was a two years program which led to the award of Diploma in interventional cardiology from the RCPS of Canada in December 2017. I became the first diplomate of RCPS of Canada, in Interventional cardiology. I am in-charge of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) accreditation program for cardiac Cath-Lab, since April 2020. For the first time, our Cathlab was granted accreditation with American College of Cardiology on 31st August 2022. I am leading several and contributing to many quality improvement projects in our cardiac Cathlab, covering a comprehensive model of governance, quality, clinical quality and designation. Deep dive into under-performing NCDR-metrics is a compulsory part of the accreditation process, which has led to significant change in practices to improve quality of care of our patients. I am also the local lead for NCDR-PCI Registry (ACC)and Cath-lab databases: I train, mentor and monitor staff responsible for NCDR-PCI Registry and Cardiac Cathlab PCI databases. I look after the quality of data entry, identify areas to improve and lead meetings between IT and clinical staff for better team working. Although, I am a passionate interventional cardiologist but at the same time I feel life is not all about making a difference to humanity through your profession alone but it is as important and satisfying you make a difference to your society through the upbringing of your family and your contributions outside your work, does not matter how trivial they may look.
