Howdy! I'm Faye Shrader, a native Texan who is currently braving the cold weather at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to study the field of actuarial science. I am an energetic and driven person who thrives off the thrill of self-improvement and the satisfaction of progress. I enjoy setting goals and challenging myself in every aspect of life, as I take pride in my progress. Whether it be studying for an upcoming test or training for an upcoming race, my goal is to do better than I have before. My passion for competitive environments has me looking for ways to learn more and improve, and the field of actuarial science has allowed me to do so with all of the programs and technical skills I continue to discover. With a love for both collaboration and individual contribution, I find joy in connecting with new faces and working with diverse teams. I am fortunate enough to do this often, as I volunteer at Prescott Elementary School each week through the Math Motivators program. This experience allows me to find ways to engage with multiple students in a busy environment while testing my ability to explain mathematical concepts in ways that make the most sense to the students. My commitment to efficiency and logical decision-making allows me to be highly involved on campus - from clubs focused on professional development to the Big Red Swing Dance club (where I try to solve the issue of having two left feet). I am looking for opportunities that will allow me to learn more about the field of actuarial science, put my current abilities to use, and further develop my skills in real-world situations.
