About Fedde Scheele

Prof. Fedde Scheele completed his PhD-thesis entitled ‘Gonadotrophin releasing hormone agonists in ovulation induction’ in 1994 at the VU University of Amsterdam. Fedde Scheele has shifted his focus from biomedical research to research on societal accountability of medical education programmes. Currently, he heads a group of PhD-students working on several perspectives of societal accountability of medical training. His research group is consisting of 5-10 PhD students and a growing number of post docs in close collaboration with the Maastricht group on educational research. He was the national project leader of the curriculum design for post graduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology. He was advisor in curriculum design in several other medical disciplines. He has positions in several national and international comittees and projects in postgraduate training reform. He has practiced as a gynaecologist until 2024 and is certified trainer for pre and post graduate clinical education. Currently he works as Dean of ACTA, the Academic Centre for Dentistry Education and Research.
