About Federico Brocchieri

Programme Officer at UN Climate Change in the BTR Review Planning and Coordination unit, contributing to oversee plans for technical expert reviews of BTRs under the Paris Agreement. I have attended the process for 15 years, previously as Party negotiator and expert for Italy and the EU (2018-2021) and as NGO observer for Italian Climate Network and the British Council (2011-2017). In my professional experience I have covered multiple roles as climate change advisor, providing technical assistance to governments and climate-specialized agencies and organizations, with a focus on national climate policy, international reporting and review, and climate action by local authorities. In 2015 I served as climate change advisor to the Mayor of Rome and was featured by The Guardian among “the young climate campaigners to watch before the UN's Paris summit”. In 2019, I attended the UN Climate Action Summit in New York as Italy’s official youth delegate. I hold experience in youth engagement and education. I contributed to launch Italy’s #Youth4Climate initiative, leading to the first flagship event in 2021 alongside Pre-COP26 in Milan. I delivered several climate change classes and presentations to school, universities and conferences in over 15 countries globally. I achieved a bachelor degree in Land and Environmental Engineering, a master degree in Environmental and Development Economics and a second-level master degree in Geopolitics and Global Security. I am passionate about history, chess and goalkeeping.
