About Federico C. Antico

Dr. Antico is an Associate Professor at Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI). He earned his Ph.D. and M.Sc.E. with a major in Civil Engineering materials from Purdue University. He received his Aeronautical Engineering Degree from the University of La Plata (UNLP). He has been involved for 20 years in academia and research, including aerospace design of structures and fracture-mechanics of civil engineering materials. His main research interests are the chemical-physical-mechanical-damage characterization of cementitious materials. Dr. Antico uses experimental destructive and non-destructive techniques combined with solid and fracture mechanics theories and models to improve the performance of construction materials with the addition of valorized waste. He has published more than 40 scientific and technical documents. Part of the research Dr. Antico did in the structural design of satellites was funded by the Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales (CoNAE). Part of the research that Dr. Antico performed in mortar and concrete was funded by the Department of Transportation of Indiana and the Chilean National Agency for Research and Development.Dr. Antico is also deeply involved in training and advising undergraduate and graduate students. At this moment he is the head of the M.Sc.E. at the School of Engineering of UAI.
