About Fedrick Cohens

This is my 27th year in education! A teacher, assistant principal, and principal are all roles I have enjoyed over the years. In my current role, Executive Director for Academics, I am afforded with multiple opportunities to work with all types and ages of learners. From providing technical assistance to early learning centers to working alongside our instructional team to creating optimal opportunities for effective teaching and learning experiences, I am able to utilize my knowledge of best instructional practices as well as my passion to help advance my personal philosophy of education along with the mission of our school district. By creating a myriad of authentic learning activities and experiences, I am building upon existing strengths while equipping students with the skills they need to be successful in their personal development and/professional development. Additionally, I provide educators with the skills and resources they need to build and sustain developmentally appropriate learning atmospheres that will enable children to develop cognitive and social skills that are required to meet the rigor of the formal learning experiences they will encounter in the years to come. I firmly believe in the "village" concept so I build and sustain relationships with individuals and organizations that are like minded. This has lead to greater opportunities to impact our community through advocacy and research. Our area now has well managed, action-oriented, civic-minded coalitions that support and help sustain entities that assist with fulfilling the mission of our school district and the vision of public education in South Carolina. I can also be described as a creative and effective leader with demonstrated skills in standards-based education, early childhood development, literacy education, technology instruction, and building and sustaining school/community partnerships.
