About Fei Lu

Fei was born in Anhui of the People's Republic of China. She attended Anhui Medical University in China and graduated with a M.D. B.S. degree of Medicine in 1987, having majored in Hygiene Medicine. She served as a medical resident from 1987-1988 and a research assistant from 1988-1989 at the Anhui Institute of Prevention and Treatment of Tuberculosis in Hefei, China. Fei moved to the United States in December of 1989 and became a U.S citizen in September Her early experience in the field of molecular biology was gained as a scientist in the research labs at Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Human Genetics from 1991 to 1994. In 1994, SeqWright was founded and she joined the company as its first Laboratory Director. In 1997, she became SeqWright's General Manager in addition to serving as the Laboratory Director. She then advanced to become SeqWright's CEO and CLIA Laboratory Director in 2001 and further became SeqWright's President in 2006. While building SeqWright, Fei also developed and served as the General Manager of the Wilbury Biotechnology Center, which houses 7 biotechnology companies in Houston. Fei headed SeqWright’s strategic efforts, which included corporate investments into several up-and-coming biotech companies, including Visigen. She served on the Board of Directors of Visigen before facilitating the sale of the company to Life Technologies. Fei was named to GM-SeqWright Genomic Services position when SeqWright was acquired by GE Healthcare - Clarient, Inc. in April 2012. Since 1994, Dr. Fei Lu has been integral in the mobilization of SeqWright to its current role as a leader in the field of contract molecular biology services. She has accumulated over 20 years of experience in biochemical and molecular biology techniques and has focused closely on the development and growth of automated, large scale and next generation sequencing technologies.
