For most of my life, I felt like I had to play favorites with my creative and analytical sides. In high school, I enjoyed the logistics of planning events like the Welcome Freshman Dance and senior retreats. While attending UCLA, I dabbled in spoken word and performed some of my own pieces on campus. Because these skills were so different, I always believed I’d have to choose one or the other when I started my career. It wasn’t until my first post-grad job that I discovered a way to use both: Marketing communications. As a content marketer and copywriter, I’ve spent the last 9 years helping businesses effectively communicate their vision. I get a thrill out of learning the ins and outs of a company, using that to craft compelling brand stories that move people emotionally and financially. I also pride myself in developing systems that save time and money. Whether it’s an editorial calendar, a spreadsheet to assess my team’s monthly progress, or a new hiring process for freelance writers, I’m always looking for ways to run things more efficiently. At my most recent full-time position with i-Showcase Inc, I managed the content strategy and development for over 27 fine jewelry businesses. When I wasn't writing a press release or teaching my team copywriting best practices, I brainstormed ways to systematize my department.(I cut down content writing time by 75%!) The time saved allowed me to take on additional projects like email marketing, social media management, creative development, and product photography. Now that I've gone freelance, my focus is on writing content and copy for finance and B2B companies.
