About Felicity Brown

My work focuses on increasing access to high quality and relevant mental health care for all, particularly those forcibly displaced by armed conflict, or living in other contexts of adversity. I have over 14 years experience working as a global mental health researcher and clinical psychologist to collaboratively develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to support children, adults, and families facing adversity, and strengthen mental health systems. To do this, I’ve worked within multinational, multidisciplinary teams in Australia, USA, Switzerland, Netherlands, Uganda, Rwanda, Lebanon, Jordan, and Sudan. I am currently working as an MHPSS specialist in Child Protection and Health sections at UNICEF Especially passionate about:(1) Task-sharing innovations whereby non-specialists are trained to deliver interventions, to increase access to care in low resource settings and reduce the global mental health treatment gap.(2) Collaborative and participatory development of culturally and contextually sensitive interventions and measurement tools.(3) Decolonial ways of working in research, service design, and implementation (4) Family systemic and parenting interventions, particularly for those facing traumatic stress, or living in adversity.(5) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other mindfulness and acceptance based approaches.
