About Felipe Melo

I have hands-on experience in developing scalable, distributed and high performance systems, ranging from information retrieval and machine learning systems to distributed Web mining applications and recommender systems. I also have experience building products and businesses on top of those systems, while leading local and global teams. I have participated in three start-ups, two of them as a co-founder. Thus, besides being used to the mindset behind the creation of something from scratch, I understand what "growing pains" really means. I also have experience in corporations, thus I understand the need for good processes, communication, team-work, drive and consistency. I hold two patents in the fields of audio and pattern recognition, big data and distributed systems, and also Web mining and recommender systems. In my spare time, I am a fiction writer and a rock drummer.
