About Felipe Rivera

I have over 10 years of experience managing interdisciplinary research grant portfolios, and developing strategic partnerships. My most outstanding skills are my strategic acumen, eagle-eyed perspective, and holistic understanding of problems, which allow me to deliver solutions adopting a collaborative, cross-stakeholder approach. As research manager, I am experienced in oversight of research grants portfolios, end-to-end project development and delivery, international partnerships management, and internal and external stakeholders engagement. As researcher and consultant, I have worked on interdisciplinary issues regarding disaster risk governance, sustainable development, resilient infrastructure, and R&D policymaking. My PhD research at University College London explored the connections between engineering and social sciences narratives about disaster risk, assessing the opportunities of adopting a socio-environmental justice approach for earthquake risk governance in Chile. I also hold a Masters of Research (MRes) in Urban Sustainability and Resilience from UCL (UK) and a BSc and Professional Engineer degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Pontificia Universidad Católica (Chile).
