About Felipe Vargas

Mr. Vargas holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Texas A&M University. After completing his bachelor’s degree, Mr. Vargas taught U.S. History and coached for three years in Mesquite ISD. He then resigned from teaching and enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Officer. In 2010-2011, he deployed to Afghanistan and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his outstanding leadership, successful missions, and for maintaining the lives, health, safety, and morale of the personnel entrusted to him. After serving honorably for over four and half years, Mr. Vargas returned to the education profession. He completed his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership with Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He was then selected to serve as an Administrative Principal Intern through the Dallas ISD Leadership Development Principals Academy. Mr. Vargas received extensive trainings focused on instructional leadership, PLCs, data driven practices, and school culture. In addition, Mr. Vargas served as a fully functional Assistant Principal at a comprehensive high school and at-risk over-age middle school. Since 2016, Mr. Vargas is serving as an Assistant Principal in Little Elm ISD. While at Prestwick STEM Academy, he assisted the campus in becoming an A-Rated campus by TEA, as well as obtaining ICLE Model School Status. Mr. Vargas is currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Lakeside Middle School, a comprehensive middle school, where he is utilizing his leadership abilities to assist in their ongoing progress. After one year, Mr. Vargas assisted the campus in a full letter grade improvement by TEA, student growth in every category and subject area tested, and a decrease by half in student referrals.Over the years, Mr. Vargas has continued to develop his leadership capacity as a systems thinker, instructional leader, culture builder, and capacity builder.
