About Feng Yang

Attracted by the structural beauty of natural products and the elegance of chemical reactions especially cascades, I pursued the total synthesis of DMOA-derived meroterpenoids in my PhD. The art and science of synthesis work satisfies my aesthetic tastes and strengthened my synthetic abilities. Being curious and open-minded, I was exposed and learned computational chemistry and enzymatic chemistry. My next task is to apply the synthetic abilities in an industrial setting to solve real-world problems and to better serve the needs of patients. I am always fascinated by the complexity of the brain and hope to get experience in chemical neuroscience. Many regions of the periodic table is another area I would like to explore one day. As a first generation college student, I achieved a decent academic record through publications and awards including JACS, Lichtin Award for research excellence (Boston university), Vertex Summer Fellowship and many more undergraduate fellowships. I am very gratitude to the mentorships and help from my advisors and excellent colleagues. This unique life experience taught me to be open, humble, courageous and gratitude.
