Hi, I'm Fergus - a software engineer with 3+ years of experience working across legacy systems, computer vision, and automation tools - built on top of a PhD in physics. My work spans everything from C++ development in camera-based systems, to build system modernization using tools like CMake, Conan, and Yocto, to customer-facing responsibilities like onsite training and trade show demonstrations. I love problem solving. My academic background has given me a strong foundation for exploring complex problems and communicating ideas clearly in collaborative environments. I enjoy prototyping and building small models to test ideas, working in fast feedback cycles to iterate toward effective solutions. I’m now looking to take on more ownership of projects, applying my technical depth and creative thinking to lead development and shape direction. I'm at my best at the intersection of technical rigor and practical impact.
