About Ferman Smith

I've been a professional audio engineer since 1994. Since 2004, I've been freelancing as an audio visual technician at various convention centers, stadiums, and hotels throughout Southern California. I was an onsite service technician for a interactive A/V system in the Bradley International Terminal at LAX, known as the IEMS (Interactive Environmental Media System). I've worked on countless audio and video installs throughout my career - both new and commercial construction. I was responsible for rack wiring,rack assembly, 70 volt speaker systems, cable termination, connector soldering, reading blue prints, wiring diagram, and digital signage. I occasionally work as an RF field technician, when the work is there. As a recording engineer I worked at various recording studios throughout Hollywood California.I've recorded all kinds of music; orchestral,jazz,rock,hip hop,country western and gospel. I worked with multiplatinum artist like Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur. I recorded the multiplatinum compilation Mo Thug family scriptures for Bone Thugs and Harmony on their mo thugs record label. Although my primary role is to make everything sound and look great, I sometimes find myself working with producers or stakeholders, who are overwhelmed with production and audio/video specifications. I usually take charge of the situation and manage the audio/video production for them while showing them how the process works so they know how to do it when it's time for their next project. In summary I thrive and excel at contributing to the success of a company or project. I'm a leader at heart and I love what I do. I believe in getting the job done right the first tme. I love a technologically challenging position that utilizes all of my skills and keeps me involved in the cutting edge of the industry. I can set priorities and troubleshoot.
