About Fern Dantas

I was 16 when I first got into university. Did I know the words to Beyonce's Irreplaceable? Yes. Did I know what I wanted to do for a living? Absolutely not. But, ever since I was a kid, I've dreamed about living in a different country, speaking a second language, and being old enough to decide when to go to bed. Proud to say that I made it all happen. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about connecting with people. I wanted to get to know them, hear their stories, understand their needs and how I could best support them. It took me quite some time to figure out that I wanted to build a career within HR. To be able to take care of the heart of a company: its people. As a black latina woman, I’ve always had to work twice as hard in order to succeed in life. I had to fight to be seen and heard. To be taken seriously. I cannot remember a single day in both my personal and professional lives where I wasn’t hustling. And where I didn’t feel exhausted and overwhelmed by it all. To be an HR professional to me is to ensure that we are creating safe, fair, and unbiased spaces for people to be themselves and thrive. To move towards justice - as opposed to equality/equity - when it comes to groups of people who have been intentionally ignored throughout centuries. There is plenty to share in this world and I wish for all of us to thrive. On both personal and professional levels, I’m committed to educating myself, listening to others with an open heart, and working towards building a better world for all of us. My core values are: Authenticity, loyalty, perseverance, empathy, and justice.
