About Fernanda Cury

I am a biologist and master in Health Sciences with emphasis in Oncology, with 8 years of experience in laboratory, cellular and molecular area. During these years, I was part of the team at Molecular Oncology Research Center (CPOM) and I was also employee of the Hospital de Amor (Barretos Cancer Hospital/ Foundation Pio XII), which is a philanthropic and the largest institution of cancer care in Latin America. I worked in the research line “Environmental Factors and Cancer” during the Undergraduate Research Project on topics such as air pollution, occupational exposure and epigenetic mechanisms. Subsequently, I joined the research line “Tumor Biology” during my Master's, working in neuro-oncology with in vitro functional assays, targeted therapies, clinicopathological associations and in vivo assays. I was also part of the team of employees, from the same institution, as a biologist responsible for HPV analysis in cervical samples in research projects. International experience: during my master's degree, I had the opportunity to do an internship abroad for three months (FAPESP) at ICVS/3B's Universidade do Minho/Portugal, important for learning new techniques and implementing at the Molecular Oncology Research Center. I also did a long-term exchange in Dublin/Ireland with the aim of developing English language and the possibility of working in other areas, which brought me a lot of personal and professional baggage.
