About Fernanda Roman
I’m a postdoctoral researcher passionate about transforming waste into valuable resources for environmental remediation purposes. My work focuses on developing and applying carbon nanotubes and related nanostructures in oxidative desulfurization/denitrogenation and wastewater remediation technologies. I hold a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Porto (Portugal), where I explored the conversion of polyolefins into carbon nanotubes using nickel ferrite catalysts. My academic journey reflects a strong international foundation — I completed a double-degree program in Chemical Engineering, earning both a Bachelor’s degree from Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (Brazil) and a Master’s degree from Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (Portugal) in 2018. Following that, I worked as a research fellow at IPB, contributing to a project focused on valorizing compost produced in northern Portugal for catalytic applications in water remediation. I’m driven by the idea of integrating waste valorization, nanotechnology, and sustainability to address environmental challenges.
