Background

About Fernando Aguiar

Brazilian-born of Portuguese descent and Brussels-based for over a decade, I’ve built my career at the intersection of diplomacy, project management, and international cooperation. From advising senior figures at the EEAS—including supporting the EU's Principal Advisor on Gender and Security on gender-responsive policy and engagement strategies—to steering strategic initiatives in conflict-affected regions, I’ve helped shape narratives and drive engagement on some of today’s most pressing global challenges. I’ve led high-level events at the European Institutions, NATO, and the UN, including UNHRC and UN COPs, developed EU-funded proposals, and coordinated stakeholder engagement with Cabinet members and Commission officials. My journey across both public and private sectors—ranging from advising EU's Representative on the Middle East Peace Process to managing international business development strategies in the private sector—has given me a 360-degree perspective, combining political insight with operational agility. Whether crafting EU-aligned communications, managing high-level events, or building partnerships, I thrive on connecting strategy with impact in complex international environments.
