About Ferran Gesa
I am a lecturer and researcher at the Departament d'Educació Lingüística, Científica i Matemàtica at the Universitat de Barcelona. I mainly teach prospective early years and primary education teachers and my research focuses on vocabulary acquisition. I hold a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the Universitat de Barcelona and I have a long career in Applied Linguistics and language teaching. I was given the opportunity to conduct my PhD research thanks to a predoctoral research grant funded by the Spanish government, and I also completed a postdoctoral research project at the Universidad de La Rioja. Moreover, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with many research projects, all of which aimed at enhancing the learning of foreign languages. Besides my academic career, I also taught English to students at different ages / proficiency levels (primary school, high school and university), which gives me deep understanding of how to teach this and other foreign languages.
