About Ffion Williams

I'm a recent graduate from UCL with a BA in History and Politics of the Americas, currently working as a Project Assistant at The New Black Film Collective. With experience across events, communications, and research roles, I’m passionate about storytelling, audience engagement, and making underrepresented voices heard.Throughout my degree, I developed strong analytical, writing, and project management skills. My academic work has focused on race, gender, and politics in the Americas, and my dissertation explored African American women’s memoirs through the lens of “triple consciousness,” combining historical research with cultural analysis. At The New Black Film Collective, I work as a Project Assistant, contributing to the editorial team behind XPO, a digital magazine spotlighting Black excellence in film, TV, and the creative industries. My role involves researching article ideas, copywriting and proofreading editorial content, and helping shape the tone and direction of the magazine’s voice. I also assist with communications and audience engagement, including drafting newsletters, updating website content, and supporting the planning and promotion of film screenings and cultural events. I’ve also supported social media strategy and marketing campaigns at non-profits like Bags of Taste, and worked front-of-house at GLL leisure centres, gaining experience in customer-facing environments.I'm particularly interested in opportunities in events, marketing and communications, especially in creative, cultural, or publishing sectors, where I can combine my academic insight with practical content and communications experience.
