About Fidel Saba

I passed out from Gyan Bharati School (New Delhi), having captained the school cricket and football teams respectively. The experience of shouldering such a huge responsibility really helped me grow as an individual and it was a tremendous boost for my confidence. This showed in the National Football trials wherein after a month of a grueling training camp, I was picked in the 20-man squad to represent Delhi state in the Junior National Football tournament. Along with my sporting ventures, I was actively involved in theatre and was part of my college dramatics society – Anubhuti. We participated in various inter-college competitions and also performed for various NGOs. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Delhi University. The subject of International Relations taught me cross-border politics and different ways to deal with them while Public Administration presents the public programs and policies to citizens. My post-graduation in Sustainable Peace through Sport from International University of Monaco opened up a new world for me as I shared a common classroom with students from all over the world and together we worked towards integrating sports in areas that were hit by conflict. I worked closely with ‘Peace and Sport, l'Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport' in Monaco and Magic Bus Foundation in Mumbai both of which promote sports in order to rehabilitate society while I was pursuing my degree and this is where I first felt the need to do more research on the subject. Over two years that I had been working at Quality Council of India (QCI) which is an independent autonomous body that works towards assuring quality standards across all spheres of economic and social activities. I have been involved with the accreditation process of Sports Authority of India (SAI) institutes across the country. This was reminiscent of what I had learnt through my course at IUM wherein we learned to optimize the use of the area available to us in conflict hit zones. In the duration of my time with QCI, I was invited to take guest lectures at Amity University, Noida and I was pleasantly surprised to get a positive reaction from the students as we engaged in an active discussion on the topic of sustainable peace through sport and conflict resolution mechanisms.
