About Filippa Mitzelou

I am a passionate biomedical science graduate, currently working as a Research Assistant in Professor Gerhardt Attard’s Treatment Resistance Research Group at the UCL Cancer Institute, contributing to the RADICALS-TR translational clinical trial on prostate cancer. Previously, I completed my placement year at the Neuropathology Department at UCLH, where I developed strong practical skills in both histological and molecular techniques, alongside a solid theoretical foundation in pathology. During this time, I also successfully completed my IBMS Registration Training Portfolio. I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science, and I’m particularly interested in genomic science, cancer biology, and their application in the clinic. I’m keen to progress into a clinical research career, where I can continue contributing to impactful, patient-centred research. With a background in Biomedical Science and hands-on experience in the molecular and histopathology labs at University College London Hospital's Neuropathology Department, I completed my IBMS portfolio and gained valuable skills in diagnostics and analysis. Passionate about genomic science and cancer research, I’m driven by the vision to make impactful contributions to transformative biomedical research. Additionally, I enjoy communicating science to share insights and inspire curiosity, believing that research is most powerful when it’s accessible and widely understood.
