About Filippo Gregoretti

Gregoretti is a multidisciplinary artist, composer, pianist, and software architect whose career blends traditional visual arts and music with a deep interest in technology and algorithms. Since the 1980s, he has been a pioneer in merging visual art, sound, music, immersive experiences, and generative art, presenting his work on a global scale. His exhibitions and performances span prestigious venues such as ISEA, Manifesta, IIC London, World Economic Forum, LCG Berlin, Videocittà, LPM, and the Genova Science Festival. In addition to his artistic practice, Gregoretti is a professor of Transmedia Arts and Digital Storytelling at UNISOB University in Naples. His work encompasses installations, visual artworks, live performances, sound-art, music, and app-based artworks, exploring the interplay between science, technology, algorithms, and the arts, with a spiritual, meditative approach. Currently, as an artist-in-residence at the National Institute for Geophysics and Vulcanology, he is dedicated to representing geoscientific data through the fusion of visuals and music. His awards include the Perseo D’oro first prize at Mediartech, the Festival Internazionale dell’Opera Multimediale, presided over by Gillo Pontecorvo’s jury. In the early 90s, he founded Alpha Channel Interactive and ForteYang International, among the first creative art studios focused on new technologies in Italy. Over the last few decades, he has worked on an uncountable number of highly innovative projects in the arts, entertainment, and technology for institutions in Europe, Asia, the United States, and the Middle East. His wide-ranging perspective and deep knowledge of both the arts and technology allow him to combine the visionary, creative, and technical languages required to imagine like an artist and an engineer united.
