About Finn Richards

I'm a documentary photographer and filmmaker. In my commercial practice I use a documentary approach to try and capture the feeling and mood of a time and place, the results of which often contribute towards image banks and short films. In my personal work I'm interested in themes of a social and political nature, and recently completed a degree in International Studies to try to gain a better understanding of the global forces that impact locally on people's lives. My work has been selected for inclusion in awards and competitions: recently my short documentary film, The Gnomes, was included in the 2020 lineups for both the Fastnet and the Still Voices Film Festivals, and my portrait of British poet Lemn Sissay was shortlisted in the AOP Awards 2020. I recently wrote about the original photography behind The Snug Project for Holy Show magazine. I'm the founder of Stills & Motion: a network of image makers and thinkers using photography and film to tell powerful stories that shine a light on the untold; the overlooked, the emotional, the political, the social, the personal and the unexpected.
