Former Deputy Head & SENDCo | Inclusion & Literacy Champion | Now Helping Schools Transform Attendance & Wellbeing. After 15 years in schools across Manchester – including as Deputy Head, SENDCo, and English Lead – my passion has always been inclusion, giving every child a sense of belonging, and helping pupils thrive. Now, at Studybugs, I work with over schools to deliver a whole school approach to attendance, safeguarding, and wellbeing – helping school leaders to: Improve & maintain high attendance (reducing persistent absenteeism 3x more than the national average) Strengthen parental relationships and engagement Support vulnerable pupil groups (SEND, PP, FSM, etc.) Highlight early intervention needs instantly Significantly reduce workload & increase staff capacity Take a data-driven, proactive, and strategic approach – backed by the DfE and supported by the NHS I love having open, strategic conversations with school staff and seeing that lightbulb moment when they realise there’s a better, more effective way to do things – with transformational results for pupils, staff, and parents alike. Our model is built on triangulation between schools, pupils, and parents, and designed to ensure no child slips through the net. A little about me: I’m married to my Mancunian husband Paul for 10 years, and we have two wonderful boys, Matthew and Oisín. In 2023, after 15 years in schools, we relocated from Manchester back to my hometown of Derry, Northern Ireland. If you’ve seen Derry Girls, you pretty much already know me – and yes, fun fact: I babysat for the main character when she was growing up (which now makes me feel very old!).
