About Fiona Tan

I graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic with a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management. During my leisure time, I love exploring new places and going café hopping. I am an outgoing person that enjoys meeting and conversing with new people. As a result, I chose to enter the workforce as a part-timer in order to meet more new individuals and to widen my horizon. I was fifteen years old (in 2018) when I had my first part-time job. Since 2018, I have worked in a profession related to hospitality and tourism, which piqued my interest in the industry because I find it exhilarating to be able to meet people from various walks of life. I have experience working as a banquet and food server in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events (MICE), and other hotels such as the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, and Oneº 15 Marina Club. I am now working as a part-time tearista at CHICHA San Chen to hone my communication and team-building skills. CHICHA San Chen is a fast-paced working environment since each of us has various tasks for preparing drinks, all of which require us to be quick and efficient. Furthermore, this can assist me in becoming more prepared for the future working environment, which is critical for the industry in which I am interested. I have learned that teamwork is crucial to avoid misinterpretation and to create positive relationships with coworkers in order to prevent conflicts. I have a strong passion for helping and taking care of others. In addition, dealing with customer concerns and providing good customer service is something I enjoy doing since it allows me to polish my customer-centricity and interpersonal skills. I tend to get a sense of achievement and satisfaction when I encounter customers who are satisfied with my service by showing appreciation or a smile on their faces. All in all, I would like to further my studies in this sector because it has been something I have desired to do since 2018.
