About Fiona Wang

Education and Work Experience: I have a Master of Arts degree in Criminology from Ryerson University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from University of British Columbia (UBC) and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate from Vancouver Community College. I have also completed the Paralegal Accelerated program at Seneca College in Toronto and I have successfully passed my licensing exam. Currently, my areas of teaching include English, ESL, Social Studies, SSAT, Literature Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Public Speaking and Debate. I teach both on site and online as a private instructor. I have been officially nominated to run in the 2025 federal election for the Vancouver Kingsway riding. I believe Canadians are ready for real change, not empty promises and recycled policies. Volunteer: I am on the British Columbia Governance Board for the Canadian Centre for Men and Families and I help recruit new talents for the Vancouver organization. I am also an instructor at Together We Can Addiction Recovery and Education Centre, where I host the Career Development and Employment Law workshop. I help clients build their resume and find meaningful employment, aiding their journey in recovery. Certification: I am fluent in both written and oral Mandarin and English. I am a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario, previously known as the Law Society of Upper Canada. I obtained my Human Resources Management Certificate from Simon Fraser University. The program is accredited with the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR). I am also a yoga instructor, and I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training registered with Yoga Alliance in Montreal in 2024. Academic Research: My academic research is in the development of free speech and how personality differences shape political views. I am particularly interested in protecting the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and section 2(b) Freedom of Expression in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom. I was born and raised in Wuhan, a city where censorship is still implemented and mandated, so I understand the importance and the value of free speech. I believe our democratic society functions at its best when we hold individuals accountable and operate on the level of the sovereign individual. I aim to protect our Western values, which consists of Democracy, Freedom of Speech, and Rule of Law. As George Orwell once said,"If Liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear."
