About Flavia Albuquerque

Biomedical Scientist with extensive experience in research and specialized knowledge in genetics, hematology and molecular biology.Graduated in Biomedicine from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in 2015. During my undergraduate studies, I was a research fellow in the Neuroendocrinology Laboratory within the Department of Physiology and Pharmacy at UFPE (2012-2015). I also completed an internship at the Reference Hospital of the University of Milan (UNIMI), Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico (2014-2015), where I enhanced my expertise in scientific research and laboratory practices.I hold a Master’s degree in Genetics from the Graduate Program in Genetics at UFPE, with research focused on hematology, genetic engineering, and molecular biology. I earned my PhD in Medical Pathophysiology, specializing in Cellular and Molecular Biology, at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), where my research focused on hematology, cell culture, molecular biology, and RNA sequencing.I previously worked at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in the Gene Therapy group, focusing on the treatment of hemoglobinopathies.Currently, I am with AstraZeneca as a Diagnostic Liaison (DxL), where my goal is to optimize the diagnostic journey for patients with rare diseases.
